PASSION... WILL IT EVER SURVIVE - DISCUSS
I have a lot of respect for JFK, Garbo and Genix, I had a lot of respect for Mark and Eric but I do not honestly beleive that under the current regime (owners) and due to the credit crunch Passion will always now be known as a has been.

Once a month
Sub Standard Line Ups
to be frank the list is endless

the promotion powers and techniques employed by JFK are second to none and are respected through clubland, that said is he essentially flogging a dead horse.

Mark and Eric made a wise move by selling and left richer men, the pikeys that took over, to be frank saw a cash cow and got a white elephant.

If this was a PLC I would be shouting to sack the board as it is not i only have one suggestion... CLOSE THE CLUB, DUMP THE BRAND AND GO OUT ON A REASONABLE LOW !!

Storm on the other hand... new venue... would be amazing!

I have to say that im left a little confused by this topic, I dont no the ins and outs of how the emporium/passion is run but ive only missed 2 passion events this year and have to say that i havnt once seen the club empty or extremly quite, we have had all of the biggest names in trance play there, Tiesto,PVD,Halliwell,Schultz,Ferry,Armin,Jules etc.

I dont think there are any trance nights that run weekly anymore and even brands like slinky and gods have only been once a month for the last 2 years at least !!

Passion is never ever gonna live up how it was back in the day and that is the same for dance music in general and we also have to remember that different genres of music tend to suffer dips in popularity, look at the hardcore dip of a few years ago and now it is more popular than ever !!

I think the Club could do with an update but other than that i dont buy the comments of poor line ups and it being once a month !!

Clubland is just a different beast to what it was back in the day and i think as long as the passion faithfull keep going to there beloved club and JFK/Genix keep putting on decent lineups then passion will survive these tough times !!

I think its down to us the clubbers to support the new talent coming through and to try build a stronger passion for the future but it just isnt ever gonna be what is was in its hayday.

COME ON PASSION !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mate sounds like you havent enjoyed yourself at paSSion for
sometime , i agree its never going to be like its hayday however
i travel From Milton Keynes once a month to go there and for
me its still up there with the best . Agreed a little investment
wouldent go a miss , however that will only happen if the true
followers of paSSion keep supporting what Jason & the team
try to acheive . I for one still Love the club ........................

To be honest Passion have had all the big players so far this year... Passion is certainly going through some changes but I think if we look at the bigger picture we'll always see that Passion has for a long time been about the team effort.

For instance pretty much all the DJ's that feature in Nu Passion which host the red room every night and even Genix who is resident are long time Passion goers who have been apart of the Passion family for years.

Passion is supported and run by those that have been apart of it for a long time ... and to that effect it has stayed true to its routes.

Long Live Passion!

If PaSSion was going down hill then why did they Get Tiesto for the Birthday, the only club to book him in the UK this year? Gods doesnt really pull that much of a spectacular line up and crasher has been none existant for the majority of this year PaSSIon has the second best atmosphere to Digital Society in Leeds and for the once a month thing, what club night is weekly outside of london?

isnt it slightly worrying that no big names for nov or dec?

I kinda felt at sean tyas the atmosphere wasnt what i have seen it before even though his and giuseppes sets were great. I still think as long as the big names are coming then passion will live on, just need to keep the late nights and big lineups!!

Gutted I missed armin/schultz now for saturday at creamfields which wasnt amazing.

Big respect to jfk and genix, think they do an amazing job and if it wasnt for them there wouldnt be much of trance scene in the midlands at all.

PaSSion will only survive if people dont abandon ship if they dont bring in the crowds then they cant book the DJs.

I have been thinking about this for some time. I love paSSion, allways will, but even i have felt the atmosphere change in the last.....2 years (ish)

I feel the problem is with clubbing in general.

Look back 10 years.......People used to go out clubbing all weekend every weekend, there even used to be programs on TV reviewing different nights!!

There is another BIG reason why clubbing has taken a hit, i dont think i really need to spell it out! ;)

long live paSSion!

The opinion amongst a lot of paSSion regulars that I know seems to be that the best thing for the club would be for JFK to hang up his headphones to concentrate purely on the promotion side of things, leaving Genix in charge of playing the resident sets. A few of Jason's sets this year have been somewhat ropey, especially if he plays at the end of the night, and him getting on the mic asking "where are you paSSion?" just smacks of desperation (and somehow reminds me of a drunk Delia Smith at a Norwich match "Let's be having you! Come on!") - if the atmosphere is flagging towards the end and everyone is looking and acting tired then so be it, you could blame that on a directionless mish-mash JFK set, but just as likely a cause is the fact that pills these days are often shite and you can't underestimate the importance of chemical power in keeping an electric atmosphere right til the end of the night. Honestly it makes me cringe when he does that, it's so sad, I get why he does it but it just makes things worse.

All that said, I still love my PaSSion and hope it's around for a long time to come, I don't think it'd take a lot to improve things, and I think the nu-passion nite is a real step in the right direction, it's probably not gonna bring a huge crowd but everyone who is there will be the right kind of people, and the music will be awesome.

The biggest thing they could do that'd make me over the fucking moon would be to bring back the PaSSion vs Storm nights, with PaSSion in the blue and Storm in the red, I cannot for the life of me understand why they stopped doing those nights!

I agree with a lot of the comments posted here (especially the one about the pills. FFS guys get it sorted!!). I have been a dedicated follower of paSSion since 1999 and have seen it go through many changes. The change of ownership really gave it a kick in the knackers but it has only got stronger since JFK came back. Genix always plays amazing sets, but I also agree that the last couple JFK have played have been ropey (pick a style and stick to it - really couldn't get into it). Genix should definitely be the one to do the 6 hour paSSion classic sets. As for no great line up in Nov or Dec, they are notoriously hard to book for and with so many different events going off across the country I'm not surprised that paSSion's been given a break. Hopefully to come back in in the new year with one hell of a bang.

May I suggest Sander van Doorn?!!!!

Isnt passion famous for the crowd and atmosphere inside it? Trance is not the biggest seen in the industry at the mo so im sure that makes it harder to keep filling the club without resorting to a constant rotation of the big names. I think this year passion has catered for everyone in trance with Tiesto (Which was proberly the bestest night of my entire life!) to Van Dyk, Halliwell, Durrand, JOC, Ottaviani....etc What more could you want?? And a cool new talent night next month! YEY :) Anyone who has been in the Red/White room will know that there are lot of good new dj's associated with passion so as long as that doesn't change and the crowd and atmosphere in the middle of the dancefloor where it matters doesn't change then i cant see there being a problem? All that + JFK and Genix as main room residents!!! PASSION ROCKS :)

PASSION ROCKS

paSSion is somewhere ive been going for ten years now , in that
time ive seen many changes in clubbers and music. However its
a place i like to call my second home , a place where i can forget
about all the Crap that comes with life sometimes . And after long
long hours in my place of work i get so excited knowing that i
have a paSSion event just around the corner , well once per month
now. I know you can say try other Clubs which i do , been many times
to Gods,m.o.s,Gatecrasher (god the Republic days they were mint)
And other big clubs . But for me paSSion is a bit special along with
the amazing people ive met there over the years . It is kind of
like a familly atmosphere . Its pure escapism for me one which i
hope will long continue . One thing ive noticed when you speak to
Jason about paSSion is that the guy really does love the club
you can see that in his eyes . And if thats a platform for paSSion
to survive this credit crunch then we are all in very good hands .
paSSion has given me some amazing nights out for that im
greatful.
